If you’ve kept up with our past updates, you may already know the benefit of taking advantage of our advertising opportunities with the Atlantic City Jitneys. A fleet of 190 vehicles available to wrap in your ad, the jitneys transport 4 million annual passengers, and are seen by over 25 million annual visitors to Atlantic City. Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year; they can be seen transporting passengers to every Casino Property, Rail Terminal, Convention Center, Boardwalk Hall, and the Marina District. But recently, these vehicle wraps are expanding their reach to an even wider audience.
The areas surrounding Atlantic City are starting to see the jitneys pop up as well. According to Shore News Today, Sea Isle City has started running the jitneys beginning last summer. That was only the beginning. Avalon and Stone Harbor have decided to allow the jitneys on their streets starting this summer. Strathmere and North Wildwood are also considering the service.
Mayor Richard Palombo spoke about this new opportunity:
“The merchants are interested in something like 5 to 10 p.m. so people can get to Sea Isle City or vice versa. It can bring in more people to patronize our businesses.”
Cape May County Herald reported on the jitneys connecting Avalon and Stone Harbor’s business districts beginning this summer, after they noticed the success of the service in Sea Isle City. It is expected to offer a low cost transportation option not only between night spots, but a wide range of individuals. This exposure can provide expansive opportunities of what audience our vehicle wraps will now be reaching.
“We’re hoping that it’s a great source of transportation for folks from kids all the way to older folks who are interested in getting from one place to another,” said Avalon Chamber of Commerce President John O’Dea.
Not only will this allow your advertising message to reach more of the surrounding Atlantic City population, but it also offers positive aspects for the community as well. It is thought that the service could help prevent DUIs by offering alternative transportation to driving. Avalon spokesman Scott Wahl also commented that the jitneys are eco-friendly since they run on compressed natural gas and can seat 13 passengers offering an alternative to commuting by car.
With summer just around the corner, and the Atlantic City community and tourists ready to enjoy everything the area has to offer, it’s the perfect time to start making plans of your own. Contact us today and find out how the jitneys can deliver your campaign right through the center of all the excitement.

If you’ve been in the Atlantic City area lately, you may have noticed some of the jitneys driving by, looking a bit different than their typical green and white. That’s because the vehicle wraps have officially begun. Over the past few weeks we have been busy printing and installing our newly available Out of Home (OOH) media as part of our recent partnership with the Atlantic City Jitneys.
What can you expect the jitneys to look like? Just how were these advertisements put in place for their Atlantic City debut? That’s a process we would like you to be a part of! Here is a behind the scenes look at just what went into this wrapping installation.
Now that the jitneys are officially dressed to impress, you can catch them on the streets during your next visit to Atlantic City. Can’t wait that long? Not to worry, we have a few photos of those carrying Caesar’s media ready for you today. As one of our first clients to take advantage of this advertising opportunity, Caesar’s jitneys are now driving around the city 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They are utilizing a total of six different creatives to promote their House of Blues Showboat entertainment venue, Bally’s Center of The Action, Showboat Mardi Gras, Mountain Bar, Sammy’s Beach Bar, and the French Quarter Buffet.
Who can be expected to see these ads? Traveling throughout the entire city, the jitneys transport passengers to every Casino Property, Rail Terminal, Convention Center, Boardwalk Hall, and the Marina District. It’s estimated that a visitor sees a jitney about 6 times while visiting Atlantic City and that they transport over 4,000,000 passengers each year. We now have access to a fleet of 190 jitneys for your next Out of Home advertising experience. Interested? You can e-mail us anytime at sales@blueoutdoor.com. We are excited to share this latest opportunity with you next!
Last week we had a new installation providing more digital advertising opportunities. Tanger Outlets in Sevierville received four digital units, these being this center’s first digital screens available to our clients. Each unit stands at 37″W x 87″H x 9.5″D and weighs in at 500 lbs. These digital units are built to last, with a self-contained heating and cooling system and displays protected by 7.5mm bulletproof glass. Units are controlled remotely using 3G internet, and offer full HD video and audio capabilities. The units were installed in the high traffic areas of the center. Here’s a behind the scenes look at the installation process.
First, the concrete bases are put in place for the units to be bolted into. Each base weighs 1,000 lbs and can hold against a wind load of 140 mph to withstand hurricane force wind. This is especially important for some of our coastal centers where tropical storms might cause concern.
Installing The Concrete Base
With the base bolted into the sidewalk, it’s time to bring in the digital unit itself. With the help of our great installers, this is attached into the top of the base and wired appropriately.
Connecting The Wiring
Once securely in place the unit is safely unwrapped.
Unwrapping The Unit
Installation Complete
Finally, the installation is complete. The unit is now online, ready to display your digital advertisement. Just like our other centers with existing digital opportunities, these Sevierville screens allow you the choice of how many minutes per hour your ad will run throughout the center. Be one of the first to showcase your advertisement at this center and it can look like this:
For the last couple of months, we have been participating in Advertising Week’s “Day In The Life of Advertising #DITLAD” Twitter hashtag. Every Friday, they ask people involved in the advertising business to submit a photo showing something unique that’s going on in their office that day by tweeting them using #DITLAD. From those photos, they choose their favorites of the week to add onto their Pinterest board where anyone can like, comment, or repin them. Each month they then add up each photo’s totals to determine a winner of an Advertising Week delegate badge.
Though photos of coffee, food, and animals seem to be a popular favorite, there are always a few that show the creativity that exists in the advertising world. I know at Blue Outdoor we look forward to having a peek behind the scenes of other people’s days. Here is a look at what we’ve been tweeting to give you an idea of what a day in the life of Blue Outdoor entails:
We start our morning off right with delicious bagels
We enjoy our office view of Bryant Park (and our NFL ads)
We take strolls through Bryant Park
We make, fly, and race paper airplanes
We sport mustaches (and wear them all the way home)
We see how long we can balance post-its on our heads
We drink a lot of coffee and tea
We eat a lot of pizza
We create art from post-it notes
You can see (comment, repin, and like) these photos and watch for new posts each Friday on Advertising Week’s Pinterest boards. We thought you might want to learn a little bit about the people behind the scenes. What would you like us to know about your office? You can share with us here and @BlueOutdoor. We look forward to getting to know you!
Out of Home (OOH) advertising is always around; it’s impossible not to notice the messages being directed toward us. But how influential is this form of advertising, and how does it work to attract an audience to get them to the point of purchasing your product? With today’s technology there are many ways of engaging consumers–one major player being mobile.
In Europe, a recent study was conducted on their OOH market by CBS Outdoor. It showed that 74% of smart phone users have interacted with OOH ads at least once. Among those who responded to the study, 51% were likely to pay attention to it more than any other form of advertising. “This figure rose to 56% among smart device users, 71% of whom said they feel more positive about brands that offer OOH interaction. 74% of the audience said that they expected ‘big brands’ to advertise OOH,” according to Ad World News.
Outdoor Media Centre recently put together a video to show the results of their “Customer Journey” study, which also showed how mobile technology benefits OOH. They focused on four stages: absorbing information, planning a purchase, obtaining information, and sharing information. The study had participants check in on a mobile device whenever they witnessed a form of advertising. From there they shared what brand they encountered, what they did, and how they felt. The first encounter usually prompted an online search of the product. The use of a mobile phone then allowed them to have a hands on experience to move them from the obtaining information stage to sharing.
In the end, the study showed that other forms of advertising work well in each stage. Television is best for absorbing, social media for sharing, and radio/news for planning. However, OOH proved to be most effective at every stage, and in influencing the final sale, showing how consumers make their shopping decisions.
This evidence shows that taking advantage of mobile technology with your OOH ads is beneficial, but how can you properly use it? The CBS Outdoor study found that you need to provide ways to help engage with your target audience. Many consumers will interact via their mobile phone if there is a creative proposition or a reward for their interaction. They look for a value exchange, whether it be something monetary or entertainment. It’s important to know what kind of technology your audience is familiar with. QR Codes tend to be the most well-known of these interactive technologies.
Once you find a way to connect your OOH ads with the consumer on a mobile level, the outcome is favorable. “32% of smart devise [sic] users said that after seeing an OOH ad, they had gone online to learn more about a brand and 20% said they had purchased a product,” according to CBS Outdoor’s study. How will you use mobile technology to benefit your future campaigns?
